Methionine is one of the essential amino acids of the human body, lack of which can cause liver and kidney disorders. It's especially important for protecting liver function. It can promote the growth of hair and nails, and has the effect of detoxification and enhancing muscle activity.
Methionine is mainly used as a nutritional supplement, and DL-methionine has the same physiological effect as L-methionine (L-type is prepared from DL-type). Methionine can be used as nutrient enhancer in animal feed to compensate for amino acid balance.
